Students enrolled in 10th or 11th grade are permitted to audition for an NYSSMA Conference All-State music group.
Students are generally notified in early winter if they have been selected. The scores generated at the NYSSMA festival are submitted to the Nassau Music Educators’ Association (NMEA) in September for consideration.
Students who are interested in performing a solo for an adjudicator in order to receive feedback with comments, as well as a numerical score, should consider attending this festival.Īttending the NYSSMA festival in the spring is the only way to be considered for the NMEA sponsored All-County Festival the following January. The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) sponsors an annual music performance festival each spring.
